"Walmart's the Vibe" Back to College 2025
With mostly new ex-Target leadership, Walmart was
looking to shift from deal-focused brick and mortar marketing to a more youthful and fun vibe focusing on
the breadth of products available on their mobile app.
While college students are more than familiar with shopping on their phones, they just simply didn’t know that the Walmart app had more than basic school supplies and
could actually help them fully express their unique style.
Following my experience of shifting 2K Games away from using ad agencies, I was brought on to build a full internal creative team, develop the entire Back to College campaign, and help develop a process Walmart Creative Services could replicate in the future.
The project was a success, helping establish a fresh vibe for the work and giving their senior leadership the confidence to take on more and more creative campaigns with their internal creative teams instead of expensive agencies.
We even captured on-set photography
to create consistent lower-funnel assets.
